The Joseph Chung Scholarship started as a fund supporting Pastor and Missionary Children pursuing post-secondary education. Later, it expanded to support students pursuing special education, learning and developmental disabilities, and more. It was started by the parents of Joseph Chung, who they viewed as a missionary sent to them by God.
When Joseph was born, his parents prayed that he would become a missionary to spread God’s love on this earth. Not long after his birth, however, he was diagnosed with autism. It was only after many years of struggle that they learned that Joseph had been spreading God’s love and impacting the lives of others in ways they couldn’t have imagined or dreamed of. On September 27, 2012, Joseph had been called unexpectedly by God, and he now lives on in our hearts.
After his sudden departure, Drs. Peter and Stephanie Chung decided to start the Joseph Chung Scholarship Fund for students pursuing post-secondary education. Their wish was for Joseph to receive the proper education to become a Christian Leader, but it seemed unlikely due to his conditions. Now, this dream can be fulfilled through the bright minds of the recipients of this scholarship.
